Was in a local gunshop yesterday and ran across an old friend I hadn't seen in years. He had recently gotten one of these.

Buy 3-18×50 First Focal Plane Riflescope - Riton Optics

It comes with a 34mm tube and he was looking for rings.

I've never heard of them, but anyone charging $1500 for a scope had better be making something decent.

But they do offer some scopes priced in line with the typical Leupold, Burris, Bushnell scopes.

Shop Our Line of Riflescopes - Riton Optics

I'm at the point where most everything I used to recommend is either out of stock or no longer made. These might be worth a look but I know nothing about them. Fortunately, I don't really need anything at the moment.

I have one. The glass is good. The eye relief is utterly horrible. It was advertised at 3.5 but is closer to 2. It adjusted properly getting it dialed in. Too many known performers from stand up companies to warrant the risk.

Ive got an x5 no complaints besides i had to adjust the focus range out farther. Thats not unusual for me tho.
If theres a highlight the glass quality is really quite good. I did get my X5 for 400 bucks, but in the 1k range where I have other scopes to compare it to its quite good.

I have this one. https://ritonoptics.com/product/5-primal-3-18x44/. I put it on a 17HMR and like everything else it has pros and cons. Weird pricing structure. The website lists this one at $899 MSRP. Most sale listings on numerous sites have them for just under $500. We all know MSRP is just a starting point, but this price is ridiculous. Mad at myself buying mostly because it was a bargain. If you want a bargain, I'm selling mine. It is listed in the ad section. OK...back to what I do not like. The reticle is too fine. I can only see it on a sunny day when the background offers a bright contrast. I took it to the squirrel woods on a cloudy day and had a difficult time seeing the crosshair. I hunt squirrels all the time and have several squirrel rifles with different scopes....Leupold, Bushnell, and Tract...all of these are far superior to the Riton in terms of practical hunting value in slightly dim light. It might be OK on sunny days when I'm shooting p-dogs on wide open prairies. I also had great difficulty seeing the crosshair against black bullseyes on targets. My eyesight is better than average after undergoing cataract surgery earlier this year. I'm seeing better than ever. I could keep it just for p-dogs, but that's not what I wanted since I already have two 17HMRs dedicated to that task... So. OUT it goes.

The one that I looked at that belonged to my friend was certainly intended as a target scope to be used in good light. That particular one would not be something I'd be interested in. But they do show some on their website that are geared toward hunting and are priced close to many others.

I'd just never heard of the brand and know nothing about them.
