My mother-in-law came out today with 3 guns that have been in her family for a long time. A model 67 Winchester 22, a Daisy model 80 BB gun, and the oldest is an old single shot 12 ga shotgun. (see picture) The shotgun is kinda past its prime. My intent is to clean it up for her and return it with a little more history if I can find it. My mother-in-law was born in 1929 and says this gun belonged to her Dad. Although it is hard to read, I belive the receiver says "Riverside Arms Co. Chiccoppefalls Mass U.S.A. Any help with history would be appreciated. I have googled and have the basics on Riverside Arms. I am looking for more specific info on THIS model.
The gun has a 30 inch barrel, but back about 6.5" from the end is what I call a "goose egg" I kinda figured it was a swelled place in the barrell from shooting too hot a load. However, the place is completely symetrical all the way around the barrell etc. The "goose egg" will take more investigation before I know exactly what it is.
BTW... As Mr. McCracken said... I have no intention of shooting this thing!
Thanks for the help
