Gods coununtry. IDAHO.
Im looking for some printed data for RL 15 to load a 7-30 waters. Ive heard that it is a good pdr for the 7-30. Ive looked at lee, hornady and lyman, searria loading manuals with no help the only recips that i can finde is on STEVES RELODING page. any info as to where i can finde the recipe in black and white I would appreciate. thanks.

You can also call the bullet manufacturer. They often have more data than is printed in their reloading books. I have called Barnes before for data that is not published, and they had it.

Steve's Pages have a pretty complrehensive listing of loads. Many of them are from old literature, and many are above current listings of max loads.

Before using Steve's data, it is wise to check it against printed data from your "loading manuals". That's presuming you have at least one manual.

When I am looking for load data, I find everything I can and put it in Excel. It allows me to rule out loads that start too low, or start a little too high (but still under max) and gives me confidence in what I am doing.

I do have some reloding manuals 3 in fact. I do appreciate all the responce to my questian something that i should have mensond is that the info is for a contender with a 15 in bullberry barrel.

Flip go to Alliant Powders .com they have data on RE15 and the 7-30 waters.

and
the Hornady 139 gr. jacketed flat point. Start 30.5 gr, 2074 fps; max load 34.0, 2321 fps.

I got my data out of the next to last Nosler manual. Couldn't call the actual number for it as it was a store copy.

I can tell you that RL-15 is a great powder for the 7x30 and you should have no difficulties in finding an accurate load for yours. I have used a variety of bullets through my standard Contender Super 14, and found nothing short of excellent accuracy from all of them. Even fire form groups have gone to less than an inch at 100yds.

The Hornady bullets work great as do the Nosler's in both the 120 range and the 140 range. My best groups came using CCI BR-2 primers, but standard Winchesters are what I use in my loads. They will shoot better than I can hold 9 out of 10 times out, and are generally cheaper and easier to find.

Good luck and enjoy your rig.

Varget is another fine powder for the 7-30. It's characteristics are very simialar to R-15, but you may find that slightly higher velocities are possible within the same pressure levels.

In my 7-30 Contender, for my hunting load, I'm using 37gr of Varget, Sierra 130gr Single Shot Pistol bullet (saddly, no longer cataloged), W-W fire formed cases, WLR primers, and a 2.815" OAL. Velocities over 2700 fps from a 23" stainless barrel.

I really like RL-15 (a new powder to me) and was amazed at the steady and consistent velocities it yielded. Huge sweet spots so far in the load I am working up, which might just yield an "all-seasons" load resilient to charge weight variations and climatic change.
