I just seen RMR offers FMJ 9mm bullets.

any good?

I have a state recertification in 2 weeks and figured I haven't shot my handgun in months so I should reload a bunch rather than buy a bunch of ammo.

do I load these to the same FMJ spec as the book or do they have to be special?

I'm using a S&W M&P 4.5inch barrel, hp-38, have combo of win, rem and federal brass and FCD. if any of this matters.

I've ordered and shot a few hundred RMR bullets in my 9mms. Never found anything wrong and as far as I can tell, they are as good as any (I loaded up some of their 124 gr. JHPs over some HS-6 and shot them into water filled milk jugs at about 10'. Penetrated 3 jugs, and dented the back of the 4th (from the inside). Bullet expanded to over .700". Running about 1,100 fps. :D).

Awesome. thanks for the reply. I just want cheap practice ammo. I use factory gold dot for SD. just need something to load up and shoot a few hundred before my re-cert. im looking to put about 500rds down range by then so figure they are the cheapest ive found for FMJ but I seen they are new so wanted some info.

Yes, can't beat the price on their 115 gr FMJ (especially with 5% THR discount). I am ordering some more RMR 115/124 FMJ/JHP along with their HM plated bullets to test in my pistols/carbines using jacketed load data.

My reference load for 9mm 115 gr FMJ for decades has been 4.8 gr W231/HP-38 @ 1.130"-1.135" with .377" taper crimp. RMR's "in-house" 115 gr FMJ are sized .3555" (sized slightly larger than .355" for improved neck tension) and use of FCD should be OK. This load has worked reliably in many different pistols.

Their 124 gr FMJ/JHP are sized .355" and use of FCD is fine.

I just received my second order of RMR 115 gr. FMJ 9mm bullets. That gives me 6,000, which should get me through the rest of the year, and maybe into next year.

They are an excellent bullet, at an excellent price. Right now, they're even cheaper than most plated bullets of the same weight, due to the introductory price.

Hope this helps.

9mm factory ammo is as cheap as it gets (give or take $10 - 11 for 50). 500 will cost ya $100-110.
I am stockpiling my 9mm brass but am yet to pull the "reloading trigger" based on cost. How much do you expect to save? Assume you have the dies/primers?
I know you said FCD - the die set or just the crimp die?

I figure I reload 9mm for about 13 cents each. That's $6.50 per box. I could get even cheaper if I wanted to cast my bullets. I use the RMR 124 plated.

Not to hijack the thread, but can somebody send me a pm with the 5% discount code? The OP asked this question at just the right time for me, since i am getting into 9mm myself and bullets are the last thing to purchase to get started...

I have a ton of brass, a lbs of powder, primers, and the 4 die set. 9mm by me is around $12-13. as of now all I have to do is buy bullets at $80-1k bullets.

adcoch1, I think mods said it's only MBC who wanted to keep the 5% THR discount code to be PMed. So far, Jake from RMR (we exchanged emails on this topic and he said he is too busy packing/filling orders for now to wonder) or other vendors offering 5% THR discount have not said anything about posting discount code on threads.

RMR 5% THR discount is thehighroad5 and you must enter the THR ID in the order comment box.

For me, there's not only cost savings of under $6/50 rounds for reloads but my reloads are much more accurate than cheaper factory target ammo. Here are my cost break down - http://www.handloads.com/calc/loadingCosts.asp

$5.89 / 50 rounds for 115 gr FMJ with 4.8 gr HP-38

$75.05 / 1000 - RMR 115 gr FMJ shipped
$149 / 8 lbs - Approximate cost from 3rd Generation with HazMat/Shipping split with another 8 lbs of Promo
$30 / 1000 - Primer

$5.68 / 1000 - for 115 gr HM RN with 4.0 gr Promo

$74.10 / 1000 - RMR 115 gr HM plated shipped
$133 / 8 lbs - Approximate cost from 3rd Generation with HazMat/shipping split with 8 lbs of HP-38
$30 / 1000 - Primer

Yes, he's selling 115 gr FMJ for $75 and 115 gr HM RN for $74 per thousand shipped. If you shopped around bullet prices lately, especially jacketed bullets, that's less than even lead/coated lead prices with shipping (HM RN is regular pricing but FMJ is at special introductory pricing).

If you want to stock up on 9mm bullets, better get them before Jake raises price after the introduction. BTW, he offers higher discount on larger quantities. So for 4000 115 gr FMJ, cost drops to $72.67 / 1000 and 115 gr HM RN, cost drops to $72.20 / 1000. ;)

RMR's products are outstanding, as is their customer service.

I just recieved an order of 165 grain pulled 40 cal FMJ's, they are awesome and look like new. For $93/1000 shipped....you'll never beat that anywhere.

From the e-mail RMR sent me concerning the discount:

Coupon Code: Summersale5

And here's how long it's good for:

Use summersale5 through the end of July and get 5% off your whole order!

Place your order by July 31st and get the 5% discount.

Hope this helps.

Favorite practice bullet is the RMR 124gr 9mm (which they are out of at the moment) with 4.4gr WSF. The 124gr plated Target HPs are a close second.
Really happy with everything I have ordered form RMR.

All good feed back - I thought the OP was asking about a "one off" reload of 500 rounds.

OP - for example - Ammoman has TulAmmo for $180/1000 = $9 delivered. Food for thought.

I am going to look into reloading my "gobs" of 9mm brass now.

thanks cheesemaker. I already have everything I need except bullets so might as well buy them and use the powder, primers, case I have.

For me, cost comes third or fourth in a list of important factors for reloading. I have no idea what my ammo costs me and it would take some heavy math to figger out costs of new bullets, or old 8 year old bullets, or my cast bullets, powder 15 years old, 10 year old primers I got on sale, shipping costs, original brass costs, and miscellaneous costs to get some powder and primer and bullets into a case, and then compare that to factory ammo (anywhere from $10.00 to $25.00 per box)...

Jes wondering, does anyone compare costs of bait, lures, rods, reels, fishing licenses, mebbe boat and or guide costs of fresh caught salmon to the cost of salmon in the market?

I'm not overly concerned with cost, I know I'm saving money no matter what, but not really because now I just shoot twice as much, lol.

My 9mm, 223 and 40 cal reloads are far, far more accurate than any factory fodder I've shot. That is what matters.

Factory pistol loads group twice as big as my reloads, on a typical day.

Its also fun to play around with different powders, bullets and charges to find the perfect combo.

Yup, my wife keeps track of my/our hobby costs ...

So for my shooting/reloading cost over the past 21 years of marriage ... around $85,000+ and counting.

Our camping gear/quads/dirt bikes/dune buggy/toy trailers/tow vehicles ... Well over $100,000 ... we kinda stopped tracking ;)

Now my retirement boating/fishing cost is adding up for 21' Starcraft with berkeley jet drive (70s vintage needing some TLC) and I started buying saltwater poles, tackle, fish finder, GPS, etc. ... Several thousand $$ so far :D

Thankfully my hobby of BBQ/grilling is way cheaper in comparison and we get to eat the food!

I got my first 2k 115gr FMJ yesterday. I've loaded 400 last night and will have to say they are running very close to the 1.15 OAl I have set up. The xtremes would run almost +/- .007 these have been running 0 to +.005. I'm using 4.5 gr of Titegroup and the first 3 I tested with a S&W 5946 went off without a hitch. The brass looks good and the powder seems to be burning cleaner than when shooting the xtremes.

Looks like RMR has pushed xtreme out for my go to. Though the 158 gr RNFP are still 12 bucks cheaper at xtreme and I've had no problems with them. I have been getting decent groups at 25 yds out of the Ruger GP100 with my set up.

I bought 1000 each X-treme 9mm and 40 cal, when they had their 20% off sale....it was a real bargain. I had to wait for it though, it took 2 weeks to get my order.

RMR is now my go-to for future orders, better quality and cheaper price, super fast shipping....what's not to like?

RMR's hardcore match bullets are superior in quality to any others I've seen.
