Short version: A CCW'ing customer at a Waffle House intervened to stop an armed robbery. In so doing, he shot one of the robbers when the robber pointed a pistol at him. Of note for this sub-forum is the decision of local law enforcement not to charge the customer.

When deputies arrived at the restaurant, they found Williams, wearing a mask, lying dead on the floor, the news release states. The deputies recovered a Hi-Point 9 mm handgun that they say Williams had when he entered the Waffle House.

Sheriff Chuck Wright said Saturday he did not plan to charge Harrison, whom he said was “very upset” about the shooting. Wright said during a news conference on Saturday that Williams was not a troublemaker and did not have a criminal record.

Yeah, all the media outlets published his name.

:banghead:

Something everyone should be prepared for, if they have to be involved in a shooting. Media have no idea how to handle this kind of thing.

Yep. Things you do in public have a tendency to be public. For better or worse, we don't generally have a right to annonymity.
