my son in law is looking @ kimber sis/.45acp, or rocr river basic carry, anyone have nands on experience with either?

I'd pick the Rock River over the Kimber any day of the week. Kimbers are pretty nice, but the Rock River Arms guns have more hands-on attention to detail.

Rock River all the way. I had a Kimber Custom II and it was a fine weapon, but I wouldn't expect it to compare to a semicustom like RRA.

Rock Rivers have better parts, are fitted more carefully, and are even better looking. I just wish they were available here in California.

I have a Kimber Custom II. Its a great gun. Great accuracy. Reliable. One of the best production 1911's on the market.

**edit** I thought he said Rock Island, not Rock River. My mistake.

The Rock River is a higher quality pistol. Between those two, get the Rock River hands down.

sorry, i have a colt nm commander, ss, from colt custom shop and was considering sig220 sao for next gun, have only shot 220 in dao, the gun was butter smooth&accurate, but bulked up imo, but great shooter.

I recently had the opportunity to handle one of the hard chromed RRA Limited Match .45ACP guns...

It was the finest handgun that I've ever handled, and I've handled a few over the years if you catch my drift...

I offer my compliments to the guys at Rock River Arms for turning out such a flawless gem.

It was just beautiful.

Then again, it'll set you back a few bucks too...:)
