Nice build. I bought a 1879 .43 Spanish full military original and reworked it as well. I really like mine and like you chose 45/70. I would like another one to configure as a hunting rifle, as mine was built for Bpcr competition. When I built mine 43 Spanish brass was not very available, nor was 44/77 that could have been used with only a rechambering nessasary, as the bore diameter was suitable for it. Now with 44/77 more available, that's what I would do next time. I see lots of posters mention that iron or aperture sights don't work for them, I suggest finding the Bob Jones sight company and looking at the diopter changing lens setup he sells that will go in the rear sight, Lyman, Montana Vintage etc and make those old rifles user friendly for us old eye guys.

Oooh, a 30-06 is something I'd love to find, provided it was a quality job. That and the Bannerman Mosin 30-06.

You wont find one . I made it myself out of a block of 4140. It is a one-off. The barrel ans screws were from Brownells, I made the rest.
