Hi everybody, a little idea here:

I wanted a rolling handle on my SDB as on Dillon's 650 but Dillon don't make some (and won't) so I made one myself using a hand winch rolling handle.

2 holes, 20 minutes and an impressive improvement from the 8-ball handle I had...even the color matches the press !! (see pix).

The best part is that except for the 2 holes, I didn't modify the handles cause the winch handle has this little bend that clears the bolt for the 8-ball... so if I change my mind I can put it back (and even re-use the winch handle with the winch).

Hope it helps someone somewhere !

Cool!

Okay... that DOES look cool....

Couple of questions for you, though:

1) Does it make that much difference? I've been using a 550B for some years,
with the 8-ball handle, and seldom need more leverage - just wondered, I
guess you must have thought so or you wouldn't have done it....
2) So where do you get an inexpensive winch to cannibalize? Harbor Freight?

Thanks for sharing - I might need it if I'm going to try using my RCBS primer
pocket reamer again on WWII era brass....

I didn't make it to have more leverage but to have less friction in the palm and a better stability when I push it down (I'm sitting while reloading) but if you install it more distal you'll have more leverage for sure.

I bought it $28 CDN at Canadian Tire (I'm in Canada) Reese Towpower #74337, but you can have any model with a handle +/- straight, maybe in the States you can find just the handle (I couldn't)
