Rossi .38 special

A friend of mine recently purchased a Rossi .38 at a gun show. It is a 5 shot with a 4" barrel and adjustable rear sight. It has a hammer mounted firing pin and no Model number stamped on it. The only markings are "38 Special" on the barrel and it has Rossi markings and Interarms of Virginia markings.

Any info on it? Some say it is very similar to a S&W J-frame but have no solid evidence. Do you think j-frame grips would fit? The ones on it now are wood and are very small.

No,J frames will not fit, but Pachmayr makes a nice compac grip to fit it.

Rossi supplied a factory rubber grip on my M88. It is very comfortable.

Don't know where to get one, but maybe you can find a used one.
