Rossi 62SA wood?

Does anyone know what kind of wood early Rossi 62's have on them? I just picked one up today. Could be a kind of walnut but not sure. This one is early I believe because it is stamped Firearms International, Washington D.C. Research suggest before 1968.

they were walnut mine looks like french walnut. the rossi have gone up in price hope u did well on yours. is it a carbine or the gallery

If I remember right they are made from a Brazilian hardwood. They rang from dark brown to a light tan.

Its a 23" barrel. I tried to share photos but it says the files are too large. I don't know what to do about that yet. Brazilian hard wood seems right. It does have a dark knot or two like you would see on walnut but the grain looks different.
