I own a Rossi 971 it seems to be a decent gun for the money.I bought it new two years ago for 340 dollars.I was wondering about the durability of this gun.I like to shoot 357mags and wonder how this gun will hold up.The gun handles 357 mags well from a shooters point and is very comfortable to shoot.I know its not a GP 100 or a 686. I plan on buying a GP 100 when my local shop get one in but the rossi was my first handgun.

I have one. Been OK so far. Digests .357, .38+P, and .38's just fine. They have been known to snap off the firing pin. That seems to be related to a bad fit at the factory or slight mis-alignment. If they were built right the first time, they run a long long time without trouble.

You might want to post same question in the Rossi forum here: http://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/index.php Bunch of folks here who know more about Taurus and Rossi than average board.
