I'm new here - First Post

Long time paper puncher and killer of numerous tin cans...

A search for Rossi 971 returned zero results

Does anyone know which S&W model springs will work in this revolver?

I've always heard/been told that Taurus and Rossi were just copies of S&W designs, and the 971 was an L-Frame copy, but there appear to be minor differences.

Wolf Springs was of no help (nothing against their product, just not many folks doing work on Rossis I guess). They list nothing and didn't appear interested in crossing anything.

I garnered from other web sources that the mainspring/hammer spring was the same as a J-Frame and the rest of the springs were K-Frame.

Well, the mainspring was correct, but the K-frame springs are way too big to fit in the Rossi.

Wolf has the trigger rebound and cylinder stop springs listed as the same for K, L and N-Frame revolvers.

Can anyone help? Looking for a reduced power rebound spring and HD cylinder stop spring.

Thanks in advance, and I'll keep looking.

Contact Taurus. Smith and Rossi might have been owned by Bangor Punta Group at on time but there was no "sharing" of parts. Lots of guns made in lots of places in the world looked like Smiths.

Thanks for the 'smith contact info.

I have a feeling Taurus would be glad to sell me factory replacement parts, but I'm not so sure they would help me "modify" anything. I doubt their legal eagles would allow it. Worth a try, though. You never know...
