Hey y'all,
Considering a Rossi Wizard system as a 'bug out bag' item, but wondering:
Are they the same interchangeable barrels as the 'combos' they sell?
Are the 'combos' basically Wizards without the name?

It would seem silly to make more than one interchangeable barrel system, but I just don't know. Thanks in advance!

It appears that the Wizard option allows the end user to pick between a multitude of calibers, while a combo pkg is limited to the calibers of the combo pkg itself.
But, a body could send off their rifle to Rossi, and buy another caliber bbl for it.....thus creating their own "W" version

Hopefully someone here that has a Rossi "W" can shed more light, as I would be interested in any other differences
....if any.

I assume they have not produced two different interchangeable barrel systems, but we all know about ass u me'ing...

ok!
Called the good folks at BrazilTech:

"Combos" are NOT the interchangeable barrel system known as Wizards or 'W's.

Bon appetit!

The Wizard is a neat concept, but not an original. Obviously the T/C Contender and Encore came first. If you look around, you can probably pick up a used Contender pistol for $350-$400. Used barrels are also very common as they have been making them for a long time. It seems you step up quite a bit in price for the Encores, but 30/30 or even 45/70 is usually enough power for a bug-out rifle.

I kind of wish they would offer the Wizard as a Muzzle loader package, rather than just offering the barrels to convert it.

Here is the list of calibers (bbls) pertaining to the Wizard

Muzzle loader:

.45
.50

Shotgun:

410
28
20 (slug)
20
12 (slug)
12

Rifle:

17HMR
22LR
22Mag
22-250
223
243
270
30-06
7.62x39mm
308
35 Whelen
38spl/357 mag
44mag
455 casull
45-70

Ok, important info: W(izard)'s are not expected to be interchangeable by the average user without issues. I was informed that unless purchased as a 'combo', the barrels need to be fitted for headspace concerns.

Anyone know if T/C's are able to avoid this? Thx!

I know of no issues with head space on T/C Contenders or Encores. They lock up tight and must control the head space by controlling tolerances on the chamber and fitting to the frame. Maybe someone else has more knowledge. I have had .22 lr, 30/30 win, and 223 rem barrels all bought used with no issues. Many people have many more barrels/calibers than I do.

Not thrilled

Ive got a Rossi Wizard, my primary choice for a barrel was .22-250 for long range plinking; with MCA's chamber insert, I can use the same barrel for .22 Hornet. (I got into .22 Hornet with his barrel inserts for .410s).
I picked up a .45-70 barrel, and some Winchester Super X soft points.
I works fine with both small calibers; the gun is more accurate than I am.
But it's on it's way to FL because the firing pin barely puts a dent in the primer on the .45-70s.
Mult. consecutive hits have neither fired the round nor increased the dent size.
I'll let you know how it goes. Braztechs reputation for customer service isn't highly praised by those I've talked to (and there's been more than one complaint on this board).
If its a matter of personal interest, PM me if this page has gone cold.

I'll bash rossi every chance I get. 2 new taurus revolvers kaboomed on me, 2 NEW ones. Circuit Judge had such an overbore you couldn't hit a house at 75 yards...

Unless they step up their manufacturing, I will never ever touch another rossi/taurus product as long as I live, and will likely never shoot another taurus/rossi revolver again as I'm not giving them a 3rd strike.

My gun dealer was very helpful, not sure what his experience with the factory was though. I would assume that he was taken care of.
