Rossi Model 68 ... DAO?

A friend recently purchased the Rossi. It seems to do everything correctly in double action but you cannot cock it, that is, no single action mode.

I don't think this is right but I am not a gunsmith. Were these guns DAO or is something amiss inside?

IMO either something is amiss, or it was modified by removal of the cocking notch on the hammer. The latter is usually accompanied by "bobbing" (shortening or removing) the hammer spur, but not always.

I have a Rossi 68 and it shoots both SA and DA. Your friend's gun has an issue of some sort.

These guns are basically S&W clones, and Numrich has parts available.

BTW - mine is one sweet shooter. These are great guns for the money.
