I'm considering the purchase of one of these, the price is right and they both get good reviews. I haven't had a chance yet to hold them both in my hand and compare them, but I'm curious if anyone here owns either (or both) of them and could comment on their experience with them?

I was able to shoot the Rossi Plinker at a shooting event with guns provided by Taurus USA, and I must say I was impressed with the revolver. No malfunctions, accurate and it holds 8 rounds as compared to the Pathfinder's 6. You probably couldn't go too wrong with either gun, given the price. I tend to see street prices lower on the Rossi, though. Good luck.

I think the Plinker has been discontinued by Rossi. I picked one up a few months ago, but when I got it home found out that is was in 22 WMR. Box label listed it as 22 LR. Serial numbers matched but frame was marked magnum under the barrel and cylinder was chambered for the magnum. Since I was looking for a LR I ended up taking it back to the dealer. Looked like it would have been a decent gun for its intended purpose, but didn't want the magnum at the time. Found a used SP101 in 22LR not long after, think it is a much better gun.

I own both handguns,,,
4" Rossi Plinker
4" Charter Arms Pathfinder.

The reason I own them both is because:
The Pathfinder is paired with a stainless Henry Acu-Bolt .22 rifle.
The Plinker is paired with a black Savage Mk-IIF bolt .22 rifle.

My 65 year old eyes like the fiber optic of the Plinker,,,
The stainless steel ramp sight of the Pathfinder was difficult to see.

I finally painted the front sight with an orange color,,,
That helped the sight visibility problem a lot.

Other than that (and the 6 vs. 8 shot thing),,,
Both handguns perform about equally.

You can see they are near identical in dimension,,,
My thinking is either gun will suit your purpose very nicely,,,
I believe you should just choose the one that makes you smile to hold it.

Bought a Plinker for my wife....on the first range trip could not eject the spent casings. Sent it back (pre-paid) and had it back within 2 weeks so not complaints with customer service. Felt nice in hand to me. Fiber optic sight a plus.

Thanks for the responses. They both seem nice enough, but I agree with the idea of buying from a U.S. company whenever possible, so will likely go with the CA.

I have handled and fired both many times, several friends have them. I think they are both very good, well made guns and highly underrated.
I would take the Rossi, only because of the extra 2 rounds, it carries. I have a couple of CA Revolvers, 45acp & .44Spl and love them both.

I've got a stainless steel, 2 inch Plinker, and it's a great gun. Once we got the sites dialed in, its dead on out to 25 yards. My wife and kids love shooting it.

Completely off topic, but I just wrote to Charter and asked if they would consider making a Bulldog in 45 Colt. Would be a heck of a competition to the Ruger Redhawk IMHO.

Buy American, buy Austrian, buy Croatian, buy Canadian! Just don't buy Brazilian, they make garbage.
No thread would be complete without. ........blah, blah. Just heard that for a Glock joke.
I would like to qualify the 'smile' statment. I try to buy the one that gets me the most smile for the least money. In turn I can puchase more smiles. I thoroughly enjoyed using a Taurus Tracker, on loan, while rabbit hunting. I found no faults with that one. Two rabbits did. Had I a need for another twenty-two I would see no harm in a Rossi either.
