does anyone have any info concerning the reliability of the rotating barrel action found on the beretta px4 and the cougar??? these are the only 2 examples i know of... i'm looking for my first handgun and i'm kinda hooked on the stoeger cougar... i just need more info thanks

This sort of locking mechanism was used in a Mexican .45 ACP which looked like the 1911 externally, and in a French service 9mm. It seems to be a reliable and strong system.

has anyone done a "torture test" with a gun with this type of action?? i'm kinda wary after reading the thread on all the POS guns... i don't feel like dumping $500 on a jammomatic...

Over 2k rounds through my Px4 9mm and not a single malfunction, with all types of ammo good and bad.

I have no complaints at all about the gun

Outstanding concept..

...

Oh yes, the rotating barrel works, especially in pure feeding and non-vertical movement of the barrel (it stays on a constant horizontal plane) for the same accuracy. Some feel it helps buffer a little of the recoil.. That's an individual call..

My Px4 40, has 5500 rounds down range without one hiccup.. just 100%

Accurate, reliable, dependable, is foremost in my mind with this gun and its rotating barrel..

thanks for the info... this thread and others have helped me decide on the stoeger cougar... i will be picking one up as soon as i have the $$$$ thanks again

The mexican one is the Obregon, IIRC. Rotating barrels were used in several Steyr autos like the Styer Hahn, and also the Rother Steyr.
