I just spoke with Colt, and they are already getting it ready to go - faster than I could have expected. (Side note - the trigger is steel, so no problem)

I have ANOTHER tough question...... the barrel. They have offered, at no additional charge, to replace the carbon barrel with a stainless one if I go with the hi polished stainless. I want to keep this as original as possible, but I also want to shoot it from time to time and that bluing will not hold up.

They also suggested bluing the end of the barrel, and polishing the hood area, but I don't care for that idea.

So I guess it's down to bluing the original barrel or switching to a stainless barrel?

Any suggestions?

What type coating are they talking about for the barrel? If it's not a special type coating (different from frame and body), I would go with the stainless. I know when I had a 1911 cerracoated I had the the frame and slide done in a titanium blue and all the parts in black, he used a special coating for machine tolerances on my barrel.

I'd go with the high polish stainless. It will look good with the royal blue and you can maintain the polish with Flitz polish and wax. That's what I do.
