I have decided to try a pair of the Royal Robbins 5.11 Tactical Pants and have a question about the sizing. Do these tend to run large, small, or roughly true to size? Since I have to order these without being able to try a pair on for size I want to try to guess right the first time.

I've found that the 5.11s run a little large. I picked up a couple pair in a 34" waist which is what I wear in blue jeans; that tends to be tight when wearing IWB. With the Royal Robbins, they're just right.

If you're getting it direct from them they have some casual stuff on sale as well.

RR junkie here, since Levi's left a bad taste in my mouth, I went RR, figuring that a clothing company that sells clothing at gun stores can't be half bad :)

I wear 33x30 501 jeans and they fit well. I wear 32x30 RR 511 and they are very loose!

Does anyone know of a website that has any of the RR pants and vests in stock? Since RR went international, I have not been able to find any place that stocks them.

I suggest you go to New York Clothiers and place your order through them.

Keep in mind that their web site isn't the best place to shop. Search for my previous thread covering my problems.

If you need a direct e-mail address please let me know, and I will give you one. Make sure you check directly with them after you place your order. Their web system dropped my order twice.

They are a good place to deal with, just have a crappy web based shopping center.

There's a place that carries them for $30, but they don't have a website. The guy used to post on here by the name of COHIBA. It's something like Police Supply or something like that. Maybe someone can help me out. I bought several pair of pants and shorts from them, as well as some firearms related stuff. They gave great service.

I just order a pair from BQM. It took me a little bit to get to exactly what I wanted (their webpage showed the black pair and I wanted khaki), but they are on order and I asked for expedited delivery. $39.99. We will see. I want them to wear to my NRA Instructor course to see how they do on the range.

TechBrute - IIRC, Cohiba is still online, although I personally don't recall seeing him lately. Maybe he will see this and respond.

Regarding the RR vest, the Wilderness store might have them and have the holsters for them as well.

COHIBA sells the RR 5.11 pants for $36, that's where I am ordering my next batch from. He can be reached at Cohiba

Like Skunkabilly, I think I am a RR junky now, but I won't rule out changing if we can get Sportif to make the 911 pants again.

I think you will be happy with the RR pants, they fit my every need.

Actually, IIRC, he sells them for $30 + $6 shipping. That makes a difference if you order more than one pair, because it's not $6 each for shipping.

You might also try searching Ebay for RR wear. 5.11 stuff shows up a lot, and anso 5.12 gear which is dressier and not quite so "tactical" looking. Got a NWT pair of olive 5.12 cargo pants for 25$.

I agree on the 5.12s. They are excellent pants, I prefer them over the 5.11s for a number of reasons.

Well, I have worn my Royal Robbins pants for an extended weekend and have the following observations.

They DO run large. I bought my normal waist size, 38", and they are very loose on me. In fact I could easily wear an IWB holster. However they are comfortable and feel good.

The pockets are deep, almost too deep. At least the rear pockets. I can carry my 2" Charter Arms Undercover in a pocket holster in my right front pocket and it stays put. I am still trying to figure out how to best use all of the other pockets without weighing the entire outfit down too much.

For winter wear with an IWB holster I think these will work. However I think that I will try a 36" pair to see if they fit better.

Thanks for all the input.

being the lazy bum that I am, I wear the same pair of black RR Tac Pants to work everyday. I wash them once a week. I've worked at this job for 2 months now, and worn the same pants every day but two, and no one has said anything about it :)
I also have the RR shortsleeve, tac vest, and 5.11 Shorts. All are top notch, I try not to wear them all at once to avoid "tactical poser syndrome". In fact this weekend I intentionally wore a green shirt so I wouldn't be wearing all black :)

RR's own.

No car, no apartment, no fulltime job (temping right now), i'm a friggin hobo.
Oh Well, good thing 40S&W reloads are cheap so I can still practice every weekend :)
