Rubber Band Bump Firing

Ear protection question.

Yes the video was wicked cool but on the 2nd time viewing it...Where was this dude's hearing protection. Kinda seemed that after firing he was a bit stunned. I use 2x ear covering even when I take my .40sw. I use In the ears & muffs. i dont want to take ANY chances.

Can that be done w/ any semiauto or just certain ones. I want an AR15 or FN F2000 in the future. that would make for one hell of a method to throw angry .223's.

I would love to know how many of ya'll went to see the vid again. Hell I'd go see it again just for fun.;)

With out regard to legal issues, it should be noted the string and washer (shoelace, etc) full-auto method is considered dangerous on some types of firearms. Some semi-auto firearms will not release the hammer to fire the weapon unless the bolt is completely closed and locked. Others rely on mechanical timing to make sure the bolt closes and locks before the trigger is reset to fire again. With this second type, connecting a string to the cocking handle to have the forward motion of the handle pull on the string may (repeat may) slow the bolt down so the trigger can be pulled and the weapon fired before it is in battery. I have not heard of this actually happening in real life, but I believe it theoretically could happen. If it did it would likely be a bad thing for your face or any part of your body that was near the breach when it happens.

(A firearm that fires with an open bolt and has the firing pin attached to the breach face of the bolt is not likely to be dangerous in this way.)

This explains why replacement shoelaces cost so much money. They use to be so cheap when I was a kid.

No wonder wally world was out of rubber bands. I'm not so sure about malfunctions though. We used to fire three shot burst so fast it seemed like full auto and didn't experience too many problems ans long as you PMCSed your rifle regularly.

MN

As stated, this will not pass muster in MN. Minn. Stat. 609.67 provides, in part:

(d) "Trigger activator" means a removable manual or power driven trigger activating device constructed and designed so that, when attached to a firearm, the rate at which the trigger may be pulled increases and the rate of fire of the firearm increases to that of a Previous Matchmachine gunNext Match.

In CA, of course, everything is illegal. Absolutely everything.

CA Penal Code Sec. 12020:

(23) As used in this section, a "multiburst trigger activator" means one of the following devices:

(A) A device designed or redesigned to be attached to a semiautomatic firearm which allows the firearm to discharge two or more shots in a burst by activating the device.

(B) A manual or power-driven trigger activating device constructed and designed so that when attached to a semiautomatic firearm it increases the rate of fire of that firearm.

The McCarthy Bill wants your Semi Autos !!
next week someone will probably write a bill banning rubber bans on your
weapon.. they will call them Cop Killer Rubber Bands !!

We Should not forget that the Spark witch ignited the American Revolution
was caused by the British attempt to Confiscate the Firearms of the
Colonists......Apr. 19 1775 Echo...out

Here's a nice little warning from the website of the folks who made the video:
Please note** A couple of points the original author of this site has not mentioned:
The firearms used in the demo videos are designed to be shot in semi- auto - not designed to be fired at a rate equal to a full-auto version.

What the author has failed to mention is the number of parts that have broken and required replacement.

You have invested a good deal of time and money in your firearms. When attempting this technique - although fun - it would behoove you to bare in mind the added cost of replacing broken parts - Not to mention the cost of the ammunition, which as we all know has almost doubled over the past 18 months.

Very nice argument trueblue. Amazing the anti's have us so riled, that most never would have thought of that. Hats off to you. Tried the rubber band thing last time went to the range, didn't work. Tried it on an AK.

But wait, this isn't illegal in IN is it?
In order to be legal in IN it first has to be legal in the US. My understanding of Fed Law (I’m not a lawyer, etc):

1. Bump firing by having your finger or thumb in the trigger guard and pulling the firearm forward so the trigger comes up and presses against your finger/thumb, then allowing recoil to move the firearm back and reset the trigger for another cycle – LEGAL.

2. A device attached to the trigger or trigger guard that aids in performing #1 above, as long as you have to pull the firearm forward to fire again – LEGAL.
Example of this: http://www.ak-47.net/products/hellfire.html

3. A device that moves the firearm or part of the firearm forward with a spring to press the trigger against you finger to fire again – ILLEGAL.
Example of this: http://www.firefaster.com

4. A crank attached to or built into a firearm that repeatedly presses the trigger, or directly fires the firearm repeatedly as the crank is rotated – LEGAL.
Examples of this: http://www.gatlingguns.net/
http://www.galatiinternational.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GIO&Product_Code=BMF

5. A string or any other object or device attached to a firearm that repeatedly pulls the trigger and allows it to reset to be pulled again, with the shooter only pulling constantly on the string, and NOT having to pull the firearm forward to activate the trigger – ILLEGAL.

So I believe how the rubber band is used determines if it is in violation of Federal law or not. Note: The word ILLEGAL above means taking a semi-auto firearm that is NOT on the 1986 machine gun registry and turning it into a “machine gun” as defined by NFA 34.

Up to and including the toy pistol with a flag that pops out and says "BANG" on it..

Cuz, you know, someone might lose an eye or something with it.

As I recall, bump firing in general either doesn't work or doesn't work well on rifles with a two stage trigger.

At least that's what Iv'e read before.

i'm not sure this is kosher in CT.

okay to have full autos, provided they are not select fire.

rubber band bump fire on a semi horsey clone would probably be considered an "assault weapon" under state statutes.:rolleyes:

it's a nice technique to know, though.

Watch out posting how to do the shoestring method...may be against THR Rules since according to the BATFE you're supplying information on how to make an "illegal machinegun". And I believe that posting information like that is against THR rules :) Just a little heads up ;)
