I recently bought a 10/22 receiver that needs a new barrel and stock. I'm moments from buying the bits when suddenly I think, "Maybe I should convert it to 17Mach2.". I already have a 10/22 in 22LR, so the second rifle would just be a range toy and something for my wife to shoot while I'm using the one I've already got.

Has anyone done the conversion? How'd it work out?

Haven't done one personally, but I've fired one that a fellow at our club did. Worked well functionally, and I could hit the cans out on the 100 yd line without near as much Kentucky elevation as my .22 needed.

IIRC, the conversion was a good deal more involved than just a barrel and magazine change. His kit had a new bolt and recoil spring set-up as well as the barrel and mag. He also had some sort of buffered pin in his, but I don't recall whether it was included or not. Cost was nearly $300, which cooled my personal curiousity quite a bit.
