Does anyone have experience with the Swivel Machine Works conversion of the 10-22? With a special barrel, a blank round, and one of their arrows/broadheads one can fire an arrow similar to a cross-bow bolt, but at greater fps than a cross-bow.
The dual purpose 10-22 allows small game (.22lr) and medium game (arrow) to be taken. I'm seriously considering this because it's another example of a multi-use arm which appeals to me and I need a .22lr for fun and survival. The 10-22 has versions with thick barrels? Anyone familiar with the 10-22 can recommend a model. I believe the stock needs to be able to accept a .920" barrel. I think Hogue offers a synthetic over molded stock in green which is compatible with a dura-coat camo finish.

my goodness, would a rig like that even be legal for hunting in your area? a friend of mine lost a hand and a foot here in montana and could not legaly use a crossbow. just wondering.

10-22 conversion

this is strictly for fun and/or survival purposes when noise must be kept to a minimum but thanks for the warning

Some of the local wildlife folks use the 77/22 version as it's much eaiser to load the blanks with a bolt action. Works for them. :)
