Ruger 10-22 barrel band

The Magpul X22 Hunter stock is designed to accept either a bull barrel or a carbine tapered barrel and also provides for an adjustment in the LOP.

The current version of the Magpul Hunter X22 stock has a little barrel support bracket near the front of the stock. It can be used or not and if used it can be moved up and down to adjust the amount of upward pressure on the barrel. Without the bracket installed, the Ruger 10/22 barrel is pretty much free-floated in the Magpul stock.

I find that my Ruger 10/22 carbine with stock tapered barrel shoots a bit more accurately with the bracket in the Magpul Hunter stock with a moderate amount of upward pressure. As has been said, many Ruger 10/22s especially those with tapered barrels seem to do a little better with some type of support for the underside of the barrel near the front of the stock, but this is not universal.

In one recent thread on rimfire central (and elsewhere) one poster found that using a Limbsaver barrel resonator damper just behind the front sight cut group sizes in half on his Ruger 10/22.
