Will a Butler Creek side-folder work with the Compact despite it not having a barrel band:confused:

Probably---they just shortened the stock and barrel ----and didn't really change anything other than that---different sights??

Yes, they have fiber optic sights on the Compact. My concern is the lack of barrel band on the Compact. Would the stock still works without the band?

I am not familiar with that particular stock but most aftermarket stocks do not use the barrel band. Ruger makes several versions without the band and they are usually more accurate after the band has been trashed.

The barrel band is for nothing but looks--I and many others consider it ugly looks, but none the less of no importance regarding functionality. As mentioned, at least sometimes, they shoot better without it, never worse.

The band is not needed. Most shoot better without it.

My 10/22 came from Ruger with a barrel band. I have a Ramline side folder and I never use the barrel band. I don't even use it when I put the factory wooden stock back on and the gun is as accurate as it needs to be.
