Anybody know why Ruger dropped the 10-22 long barrel from the catalog. It was there last year, and gone this year. I think I will be checking the local Wally World to see if they still have one laying about there now.

For that matter, why is it that they do not have a pure .22 LR lever action?

The Doc is pondering now.

wal mart special?

If you are talking about the stainless 22 inch rifle that you can only buy at wally world it has been discontinued. Plenty still available at wal mart but once there gone thats it. Better get one while the gettin is good.

Be forewarned that the more recent Wallyworld specials have a black trigger guard and a painted receiver. Previous versions had a clear-coated receiver and trigger guard.

I got mine for $214 a couple of years ago...

If you already have a 10/22 you may be able to get just the barrel from someone at rimfirecentral.com . Lots of people buy the Wallyworld specials for the ss receiver and ditch the barrels. That's where I got mine.

Not understanding your question. What do you mean by "pure"? They do offer the 96/22 lever action .22 lr.

the ss receiver and ditch the barrels

Although, the receiver is not actually SS. That's something to remember. To me, the clearcoated aluminum receiver and the stainless barrel look mismatched. I wish now that I'd gone with the regular blued carbine.

You can still get a regular carbine and put a longer barrel and full size stock on it if you so desire. Nice thing about 10/22s is that they are so modular...
