Hello,

I just got a ruger 10/22 for $85 with a bushnell scope. What a deal. At least I think it is. Barrel has some wear little pitting but for just a plinker (mostly for my daughter) I couldn't pass it up. Anyhow, It came with only the factory 10rd. mag. I have been looking for some high cap mags. I've found several but they are all plastic.

So...does anyone make metal high cap mags. for the ruger 10/22???

I would like a 50 rd. but would settle for 25. But, I want metal not some cheap plastic poop that will break in no time. Affordable too.

Thanks for any help,

Some of the worst mags made on Earth are all-metal mags. Do a little investigating and pony up for some Butler Creek Steel Lips. They'll probably last longer than your little girl's interest in that 10-22. :)

Pitting?

Only way to pit a .22 rimfire barrel with modern ammo is to pour saltwater or vinegar, or Drano, though it, between range trips. Dump some decent lead solvent down the tube, and let it soak for a couple of days.

I think he was talking about pitting on the outside of the barrel...

But for 125 you can get a brand new target barrel from clark, 85 a new gm barrel, etc. who cares if the stock one is pitted inside or out? Go to Rimfire Central for more information than you ever wanted to know about the 10/22.

I have 3 of the Butler Creek plastic "Hot Lips" for my 10/22. After about 100/125 rounds through each, they work flawlessly.

The Hot Lips are the plastic feed lip version, so they may eventually wear out, but for now, S'allright.

Tactical Inc. makes an aluminum 25 rounder very similar in shape and function as the BCs and Ramlines.

I've used BC Hot Lips mags for over 15 years now without a problem at all. Pretty sturdy and able to take abuse short of shooting them.

With a stock barrel butler creeks hot lips worked fine me. I changed to a match bull barrel and they no longer work so I only use the stock 10 rounders now. Mark
