Ruger 10/22 picture request

I had a 10/22 set up with that stock, its made by Fajen, called the Legacy II I believe. I really like it, being able to customize it made it very comfortable for offhand shooting. Wish I hadn't sold the rig actually...

does anyone know if that bull barrel is any good?

Not with stingers. The chamber dimensions do not like the stinger case dimensions and the manual mentions that it will result in inproper chambering/extraction.
Basically blown cases before they are fully chambered.

I have not ever tried stingers with my barrel..

This is a Fajen stock, GM .920 barrel, all the normal internal mods, 1lb 12oz trigger pull, Mueller AVP. From the bench it shoots 1/4 moa at 25 and 50 yds.
I have shot 100 yds, but that is not the strong point of the .22lr. I have 5.56 and 7.62 for longer range shooting.

Haven't tried 200 yet. Don't listen to the nay-sayers, get all set up and try it, maybe you can, maybe you can't...

I've heard Butler Creek barrels are hit or miss but it seems most are just as good as other brands. Most barrels have match chambers so don't shoot stingers. You can pick up a green mountain barrel for about $100 also. I put one on mine (16"), with a Hogue overmold stock.
Here's a (bad) pic of mine. I'll have to take some decent pictures soon.

This one is close to the beginning. Serial number 4 the lowest serial number 10/22 outside the factory. The factory retains numbers 1,2,and 3.

thats insane! probably the first one left in existance!

What a collectors piece, never ever sell that :D

Whats the story behind it?

My .17 Mach2 will not shoot consistant 2" groups at 100 yds with no wind.

If that is true, you have built one stupendously poor HM2! Here is what mine does at 50:

Here is the carbine that shot it:

And you darned right you can shoot and shoot well at 200 yards! You are never going to do it with a plastic stock, period. "Is that bull barrel any good" shows that you need a HUGE amount of information to even be able to know what questions to ask.

Go to Rimfirecentral.com, get registered and start reading. Don't buy any plastic stocks, don't buy any barrels that you don't know in advance are worth the money and don't shoot Stingers in anything with a Bentz chamber. If you don't know what a bentz chamber is, you just confirmed the last statement of the previous paragraph.

But what do I know? I've only built 8 or 9 of them and the WORST one shoots sub 1/2" groups at 50 yards. Here are just a few:
Apache:

Barracuda:

How about a Model 96 in 17HMR?

Tucks Tundra (note the ghost flames)

And finally... my Safari Grade:

I get about 1" at 100 yards. I have a Sightron S1 3-9X40mm scope on a Heavy Barrel 10/22. Rifle is dead on at 40 yards and the 1st notch below of the mil-dot reticle is dead on at 100 yards with Federal America Eagle 38gr Hollow Points @1250fps.

Anything further than 100 yards the 22lr is dropping like a stone and super hard to compensate for. Besides, the energy is so low past 100 yards it wouldn't be good for hunting if not a perfect hit. Maybe you should think of one of the .17 cal rifles.

the 10/22 can shoot .17 mach2 with just a barrel conversion? is it that EASY????

i will read more on rimfirecentral.com thanks

There is a conversion kit that has a different (stiffer) spring and guide rod. Also needs different barrel. I thought about it, but decided not to do it. I don't want to be without my 22lr or have to switch everything back over just to shoot some cheap 22lr rounds.

I am considering a 17 HMR, but I'll be heading back east soon. All I ever hunt in tht 22 or .17 range is squirrels. I've got 100 yards with my 22lr and the factory stainless hammered steel bull barrel. I've never and probably will never even see a shot on a squirrel that far. If you want 200yards I would just do the Mach2 or 17HMR from the go.

yeah, read up a lot on rimfirecentral.
nice forum btw
