Ruger 10/22 question

I picked up a 10/22 with a scope package, and would like to get the correct rings for it. The base on it looks like a narrow weaver base without cross slots, and measures .540" across. Someone streched out some 3/8" rimfire rings to fit it, but it looks bad. The original owner claimes it was a Dicks sporting goods package deal he bought 8yrs ago. I seen some 5/8" bases available, 3/8", and weaver, but nothing slightly over 1/2" like I got

Any weaver mount ring will fit it as it will fit a picatinny rail but the reverse is not true. Y

My Weaver bases measure .840", quite a bit wider than whats on the 10/22.

Why not replace it with a conventional Weaver base? Then you can choose whatever rings your heart desires.

The Power Custom Weaver base is on sale at Midway for $14. It's what I use on my 10/22.
