A few days ago I bought a new Ruger 22/45 MK III (Target Model) .22 caliber long rifle handgun. It has a bullbarrel and came with a scope mount rail. The enclosed spent shell is dated "August" this year. It also has a red circular sticker near the bolt release. Now, a few questions: (i) Thanks for sharing your experience with this model of pistol. (ii) What does that red sticker mean? (iii) What's the best scope to mount on this pistol? (iv) What ammo do you think is best to use in this pistol?

Thanks.:)

I think the red sticker is some sort of QC mark or something. All of my Ruger pistols have come with one. No harm in removing it if you wish.

I used a red dot on my 22/45 for a while. Ended up taking it off and going back to the irons.

I do a lot of shooting at steel targets with mine, so I tend to use any of the bulk 22's. The pistol runs any of them fine.

Best things I have done for the pistol are:
Remove the mag disconnect for easier field stripping and drop-free mags.
Remove the detent from the bolt stop and reshape the mag disconnect spring so the last shot hold open automatically moves out of the way by just racking the slide.
You can find threads about both these mods o Rimfire Central...
