I just found a used SS MK III for sale at a LGS. The price is 399.99 firm. It was a range gun so lots of rounds through it. The value of new is 649 on rugers web page. Have not put my hands on it yet is it worth looking at that price or should I wait. I just started looking at .22 pistols so not sure on value and what wear and tear to look for.

Here is the rugers page it is the lower one.

Thanks

Unless you're stuck on the SS, I bought a Blued Target model with a 6 7/8" barrel NIB for $300.00 otd. Shop around.

I would also keep looking as the range gun aspect of it would be a concern with me. Also the price doesn't jump out at me as being that great for a very used gun.

I love Rugers, but their MSRP is usually way over listed. $399 is high for a used one but they are really difficult to wear out. If not beat up and all accessories are there the price may be fair. If you really like it, try to scrooge him down $50 or have him toss some ammo in.

It depends on exactly which model it is (Ruger makes several models of their Mk III guns in SS) but IMO that sounds way too high for a heavily used range gun. I know prices are still elevated right now but I bought a brand new MK III Competition (one of the more expensive variants) last fall for less than $50 more.
