I need some help i aready have a taurus RB 44mag and a smith 460xvr but my gun shop has a ruger blackhawk in 41mag in very very good condition he has 300.00 on it but will let me have it for 250.00 is that agood deal or should i pass on it it sounds good though.. i reload for my 44 and 460 aready..????

Uh, 41's suck. They are not capable of shooting flatter than the 44(actually .429) mag, and are not just as effective on game except things that need to be whacked with a 300 grain slug.........;)

Where is this gun shop?:D

Seriously, at that price and condition level? SOLD.

41 mag is a very nice round that had the misfortune of coming out at the wrong time. The only issue whatsoever is finding ammunition for it (around here at least).

If you like single actions and want something a little different, I'd buy it. I got rid of my 44 mags in the past in favor of the 41 mag. Unfortunately I have been shooting a lot less than I would like to be in the last 6 months. Ammo, you won't have a problem if you reload. You generally don't have a problem if you don't unless you shoot thousands of rounds per year. Since I have not been shooting much of late. ammo has not been a problem. :D On the other hand, it really isn't a problem anyway as I have a pretty good cache of 41 mag ammunition.

Added: That is a good price. Since I like 41 mags, I'd buy it. I wouldn't let the door hit you on the way to the store.

I used to have a BH 41mag and sold it. I bought a OM 3-screw 41 mag and sold it. Ya know, some people are just dumb and make the same mistake over and over again.

Well, it took a while but I finally learned.

I bought a BH with the 4.63" barrel and love it. Its a keeper. Also bought a S&W M57 and love it just as much. Now I have the 2 41mags and they gonna stay home.

I load mine with 41 specials and they are great plinking loads and great for carry also.

For $250, don't hesitate. BUY!!!

Great cartridge and that's a great price. Don't discount the "little" .41 magnum. After all that mighty .44 is really only a .429 magnum. ;) Got 4 .41's - great shooters.

The 41 Mag is a great cartridge and easier to shoot side by side than the 44. I have a RNMBH and a S&W 57 and a 10" Contender. I had a 29 in 44 but it was worth more to someone else. My Contenders in 41 and 44 are identical and the 41 is easier to shoot and consequently more accurate. I cast for both and vary my loads to suit. I like the 41 better, and I've owned 44 magnums for 30 years longer than I've owned 41's.
Good guns at good prices.

THANK's for the push ya' I've made my mind up i'll grab it ... THANK"S again every one.:)

You'll like it. I really like my Redhawk .41 Mag. It keeps my .44 Redhawk company. That's a great deal on a fine revolver.

Damn, I have really been hunting around lately for that exact gun at a decent price. I just don't want to have to pay $400-$500 for one so I don't own one. I would hop all over that gun. My buddy lets me shoot his 41 mag and I absolutely love that round. I reload his ammo for him and love loading for it as well. It's easier for me to shoot than a 44 mag and his gun seems to more accurate than most 44's I've shot. That might just be because of my flinching issue with 44's though, damn those things kick.

Moral of the post is BUY IT!

I've heard it said that there's no reason to own a .41 Magnum when the .44 Magnum is available.

I say that...once you've gotten cozy with the .41 Magnum...you won't see a real reason to have the .44;)

Congratulations! You'll like that revolver.

Thank' for the help ya i went to the gun shop at 10.15 and put my first ruger on layaway this morning...thank you ........roger

I:ll send some pic when i get it..:)

Cabelas has brass - only place I found it. Midway, Wideners and Grafs were out. After an hour of hunting, I clicked on Cabelas and - bingo!

I ordered Missouri Bullet's .41 Trooper. Thought about ordering some Remington slugs from Cabelas, too, but Brad's always done me right and 500 of his bullets are only $10 more than 100 jacketed. I figure for mild-to-moderate, I should be golden with the cast lead. If I want to jack it up to "What the heck was that?" loads some day, I can always try something else if the MB's don't work that hot.

I'm reading Unique is a great powder for the .41, so that'll be next month at the local toy shop. Until then, I have some Universal I'm going to try.

I'm looking forward to my new toy arriving next week. Hope you are able to get yours soon, too. We'll have to compare notes, I guess, on our new toys.

Brass- Since the gun isn't in your hands yet and you're starting from scratch, you may want to order directly from Starline, and check out dillon as well.

I like starline, federal, and winchester cases in that order. Speer cases, if you can find them fall between federal and winchester.

As for bullets? The 210 XTPs are stompers, but I also like the speer 200 grain half jacket hollow point, and their 220 slug as well.

How are you set for powder?

Well ben i've ordered my brass already from cabelas because i couldn;t find any anywhere esle...but now i can't find any bullets in stock other than some speer gold dots i wanted the hornady 210gr xtp bullets for hunting season well i keep looking .. i have h-110 and 2400-tite group-bulleye blue dot i want to try some unique though...if my gun shop aroud the corner has any.......

I have several .41 Magnums and the majority of the ammo fired through them since I bought them has been reloads made with cast bullets and Unique powder.

I've used LSWC bullets weighing 210, 215, 225 and 230 grains. They all shot well over Unique. I generally use enough to push them around 900 fps. I used to shoot bowling pins with a six-inch Smith M57 and 215 grain LSWCs.
It was very entertaining as the pins left the table pronto, in a cloud of splinters.

I have used similar loads on steel plates and they go down quickly too. Some of my .41s do not approve of missing and they make me look good.

41 Magnum

I have this Blackhawk also. Very accurate. If you like recoil, load with Hogden H-110.Very fast and wear a glove because it will hurt you after a few rounds. Slower rounds are pleasant in this gun(Unique and W231). I also have a S&W 41 Mountain Gun that is a joy to shoot.

Sounds like i'll be having some fun with the 41magnum..

Oh, yeah. The more you mess with it, the better you'll like it.

For a good, accurate general-purpose load...try 9 grains of Unique behind a 210 grain cast SWC. Drop it to 8 grains to duplicate the old "Police" load. It's downright pleasant to shoot. One caveat: That load is so addictive, you'll go broke buying components for it. I shoot it 100:1 over any of the others.
