Does anyone out there use a Ruger 45 acp pistol for there ccw ?
What type of holster ? How do you like it compared to other guns you own or have owned ?

I carry a Ruger P-97DC in a Bianchi 105 minimalist belt slide. The 105 keeps the gun snuggled in real close to the body. I am kind of short and round and even a light Cotton shirt keeps the gun concealed just fine.

Handyman. Also have a Ruger P97DC and like it a lot. Never let me down and built strong. Decent accuracy and easy to break down for cleaning. Have had nothing but excellent service from it. Carry holster is a Fobus R97. Fits and works well. Have you been over to the www.rugerforum.com and checked over there. Check recent threads on the models 345 and the 97. Also do a search of the archives for more info. Put your questions to the owners of these model pistol directly. I like the polymer body due to being lighter than lugging a P90 around all day. Disregard the trolls and bashers. There has been a flurry of posts saying how bad these are and then when pressed for facts things get real quiet. These semi-autos have a very good track record out in the real world. Mas Ayoob has written up these pistols in Gun Digest's Book of Combat Handgunnery in recent copies. It's an annual book. He tells it like it is with no glossing over. Remember, this is the guy who has gun companies threaten to actually stopping to advertise in publications he writes for because he doesn't pull back any punches. So use your resources here and there. Granted owners have bias, but they will tell you the truth with out the glossing over. If there are problems, they will let you know. Do not take problems as a reason to not consider one. All makes and models have problems from time to time, are fixed, and back in action. Good luck and keep us posted.

I at times carry a Ruger KP97 in an Uncle Mike's belt pouch. And at times, when I go for a walk in cold weather, I carry it in an oversized coat pocket.

I carry this P97 almost everyday in an inexpensive Maverick IWB hoster that suits me well from Dillon's Blue Book.
Also as weregunner said, talk to people that actually shoot and carry these guns and pay no attention to some of the B--S--- put out by a few here that bash Rugers because they heard this or that from someone else that don't know either.

Joe Gunns, How comfortable is that shoulder rig? I have a BH convertable too and have considered a shoulder holster of some type for carrying in cooler weather but have never talked to someone that did.

For short time wear it is ok. Longer than a couple of hours is not so good. The broad loop that actually has the holster/clip attached is fine, it is the thin strap that goes around the back just below the neck and down front to fasten to the belt above the front pocket that I find irritating. I originally got the rig for cowboy action shooting, but dont use it for that. It is bulky so for ccw works best under a heavy coat. I have been thinking about getting a rig from another maker, something with the "X" design that loops over both arms but have not done any serious looking yet. I really like that Vaquero, at 25 yards the fixed sights are dead on and with the high-power defensive acp loads it is very comfortable, so would like to carry it more than I do.

I carry my P345 in a Galco Cop 3-Slot holster, and in a IWB made for a Beretta, that I bought at my local range. No problems hiding it with shorts and a t-shirt. Great gun:)

Joe Gunns, thanks for the info on the shoulder rig. Think I'll look around a bit at different types. Not sure if I would use the .45 ACP cylinder or stick with the big .45 colt rd. Either one sure hits hard enough for most all social purposes:uhoh:
