Ruger 77 Mk II bolt lock pin

My Ruger 77 MII bolt doesn't lock anymore. The safety doesn't push the pin into the bolt handle enough to hold it. There is a little play in the safety lever, but it looks like the locking pin is just too short.

I'm wondering how hard it is to replace the locking pin or if I need to get a whole new firing pin assembly.

None of the Ruger exploded parts diagrams show this part and I can't find it at Midway.

How would it suddenly become too short? Is there something in the hole or did the pin break off? I would call Ruger for advice on that problem.

It's not suddenly too short. The safety lever that pushes the pin in has developed some play and the pin looks like it was probably always a bit short. The pin engages just enough to give the bolt a bit of resistance but not enough to hold it.

Contacting Ruger is a good idea. I just need to find the original trigger if I'm going to send it in. I've heard if you return one with a Timney they'll remove it.
