I had a S&W J frame many years ago that shot 9mm. The instructions stated that you may have to experiment with different types of ammo to find a brand that it would eject reliably. Well I shoot my reloads and sometimes they would eject and sometimes they wouldn't. That is to say they would really be stuck in there. This is with moon clips. The Ruger would have to prove that it will eject properly before I would be interested. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon just yet.
Yeah, I don't think a gunfight is the right time to R&D a 9mm snub revolver to see what works & what doesn't.
I think for the LCR, Id stick to a .22WMR or maybe the larger .38spl.
I agree with the statements of Youtube.com gun personality; The Yankee Marshal, a heavy LCR(9mm or .357magnum) doesn't lend itself to deep concealment or "back up" use.
I think a .22WMR with a good HP load like the new PDX1 or Speer Gold Dot would be the ticket.
