Ruger All American what's the word?

The new Rugers sound great BUT so far I'm not ready to dump a Pre-War/Pre '64 Model 70 to find an accurate rifle.
I might just purchase one of the new Rugers just to run some accuracy tests.
You NEVER know.

Do I understand correctly that it does NOT come with scope rings or a scope base?
Something about being drilled and tapped for Weaver 46 bases in the manual...

My .308 just arrived at my LGS last week. I have not seen it yet, but my father ordered the same and said his came with bases installed on it.

Reviews in current issue of Rifle Magazine read make it sound extraordinarily accurate for a bargain price. What else out there in bolt actions fit this bill currently?

Well I picked up a Remington 700 Varmint in .308 with a scope at a Dick's grand opening. Came to $449 after I send in the $50 rebate.
Then a half hour later almost across the street I spotted an American .308 for $379 at Academy.
Feeling foolish I came home with it too:)
Hope I get a chance this weekend to see which one shoots best....

You poor son of a gun. Good thing you have the cooling off period for that bolt action rifle. The deer are safer because of it.

Re the wood stock- Ruger has no plans for one & says that's because of the two molded-in bedding blocks.
Those blocks are a major part of the accuracy, and any wood stockmaker would have to include them in an equally effective way.
Also, the triggerguard's molded into the Ruger plastic stock, which means an aftermarket stockmaker would have to deal with that issue, too.

The gun is built to be what it is, modifying it much would run the price & weight up & wouldn't improve performance.

Yeah I have not done nearly enough cooling off since I ordered the rifle in January. Better give it 10 more days.

Received mine, great gun.
The scope bases are installed.
First dozen rounds fired to adjust scope,
very consistent.
Like that you can either load by magazine or just toss a round into the receiver.
Registration at Ruger will give you a free cheekrest/cartridge pouch.
Not bad for $336
