Ruger American 22mag

I picked up the 22mag yesterday and threw a 3x9 on it I had laying around. Sighted it in with cci solids then shot this at 45 yards with Hornady Critical defense, five shots. I almost got the 17hmr but figured I should get some competition for the Savage 93 in 22mag I got last Saturday. The Savage shoots good to so they should be fun.

Ha, gotta love those 22 mags! I don't have one in a bolt, but I sure would look at one if it shoots like that.

I'm thinking that the Savage will out do it but time will tell. I should have a scope coming in a few days, this one isn't very good so I put a Simmons 6.5x20x50 on it so I get to sight it in again.

I got the Ruger American in 22lr. It shoots good! I don't plan on scoping it but I like that the receiver is drilled and tapped, never really cared for the dove tail. The sights were not even close when I got it but shoots one hole groups at 25yds with M22 ammo.

After doing some research, I ordered a pair of #12 Weaver bases so I can use regular mounts. Just in case, I ordered another pair. Might want the American in 17hmr.

Just a little progress report. I found some 25 round mags for the 22mag. They work great! Much better than the factory 9 shots. Anyway, I have about 100 rounds through it and it is now feeding smooth. The CCI solids and hp's shoot better now too. Might be that the wind wasnt blowing 35mph for a change.I'm getting to like it more each time I shoot it so I am going to go for the 17hmr now.
