I've been looking at this rifle for a few weeks now and think this will be my new deer rifle but it's so hard to find. Does anyone have the ruger American predator, if so id love to here your thoughts on it, thanks-Jake

I have a Ruger American Predator in 308 purchased back in 2014.

I have found mine to be a very handy, lightweight, accurate rifle that is an exceptional value with a price point at right around $400.00.

Mine pictured with AAC 762 SDN6 suppressor:

10 shots at 100 yards using 168 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips and stiff charge of surplus WC 844T:

This group was fired with no mods to the gun at all.

Since these pics, I have opened up the barrel channel so as to completely free float the barrel and I modified the trigger by clipping 1.75 coils off the Triggeer adjustment screw spring as my trigger would not adjust to a weight of pull I liked without the mod.

A week or two ago I carried it on a coyote hunt and I truly appreciated it's light weight and ease of handling in brush vice my longer, heavier varmint rifles:

My experience with the platform has been wholly positive and if an inexpensive, lightweight, accurate 308 bolt gun is what you are looking for, you should give the Ruger Predator a hard look.

It took a while to find one, but I bought the 1st one I saw.

It does this at 200 yards. Not bad for a handy short carbine that weighs 7 lbs scoped. That is less than my 30-30 unscoped.

Just bought one for the GF as her gun rifle. Haven't shot it yet. Will take it to the range tomorrow to sight it in.

Got her's at Cabela's.

Can't say that I own one, but after being unable to find a break action .308 for less than $300, the Ruger Predator is next on my list. Sadly, it seems none of the big retailers have any on sale for Black Friday as the Savage's seem to be the designated "cheap bolt gun" to sell.

The only question I have about the Ruger American's is does the sticker on the stock come off? I'm concerned that it'd give away my position and as much as I'd like the deer I shoot to know that he's being killed with Ruger quality that's American made, I'd rather him not see me at all.

Brand new. Just came back from the range. After zero'ing the rifle at 100 yds using 150gr hornday whitetail sp bullets, this is what my gf managed to get. She is recoil sensitive and shot from a bench rest. Had a flyer probably due to slamming the trigger or something.. Still not bad. My group was tigher but accidentally tossed out the target. Arrgg. Trigger adjusted to 3lbs is super nice. Recoil is a bit more pronounced vs full size rifles. Still not bad at all. My gf who is 5'2" at 115lbs shot 50 rounds and she still wanted to shoot more. No recoil pad either.

Great rifle for its price.
