Ruger American?

I have the Ruger American in 7mm-08. Got it last summer to hunt deer but have only shot it at the range. Got a good deal on it, and a good deal on a Vortex Crossfire II scope that I mounted on it. I am currently reloading and trying to find the best load for it. It is very accurate and can be had for a great price.

My first rifle was an M77 and I was raised on those and Remingtons. I turn over a fair number of guns and don't think I would ever keep an American. I like the excellent M77 actions. And checkered stocks.

For a budget gun, I could go for a 788.

Boyds is making a stock now for the TC Compass. That may have saved mine from moving down the road.
