I handled one of these beasts the other day and I am thinking that it is a massive hunk of steel. Specs on it are something like 51oz. so I am thinking that recoil with the .357 should be pretty mild. The only thing I can find wrong with it is that the factory grips on the Bisley aren't shaped right at the top where they curve forward toward the trigger. There is too much wood there and sort of a squared off edge which was immediately uncomfortable to me. Does someone make a grip for them that doesn't have that squared edge there or would I have to get at the originals with a dremel and a rasp and make them right?
Other that that, I am thinking that with a gun that size in .357, I doubt that I could possibly wear it out.
Anyone own one or have any experience with one?
Thanks.

Most likely all grips you find will have the same shape/profile. A bit of reshaping with sandpaper will be all you need. the Bisley is a very comfortable model to shoot especially with the smaller calibers. If you can hold out, a stainless 5 1/2" model is coming later this year. Will be another in the Acusport Bisley series. proberly 1000 to be had and proberly in the same $420 range when available.

I might have to hold out for that one. A 5.5 incher would be a little more practical and that would give me some time to save up some money. I am thinking that if I go this route, I may obtain a second set of grips via ebay and make what I need before I buy the gun.
Thanks.

Had the same problem. Half round file or rough sand paper first, and fine sand paper for finish will fix it. REMOVE STOCK FROM GRIP FRAME. Get small C-clamp and ¼†thick piece of rubber or plastic to prevent damage from C-clamp, much easier to work when clamped down.

I'm trying to find out more about the expected ship date for thse 5.5's I'll let you knwo when I learn anything. For grips, what material you want? Lett grips, the company that meks grips for Ruger, offers a buch of different materials www.lettgrips.com . Not super, fast 3-5 weeks out, but an almost 100% sure fit being "factory". For really nice ones you want those done by CaryC. Will find his site and post link if interested.

The "new" Vaqueros in .357 should be a lot lighter and smaller since they are supposed to be about the same size as the original Colt SAA. Still plenty strong (and heavy) with .357 holes in a .45 cylinder.

But a local store told me that all the new Vaqueros along with the half-century Blackhawk have been recalled :(

The New vaqueros and 50th Ann BH's are not suitable for all these +p+ loads - SAAMI spec loads only.
The recall had something to do with rivits/pins holding the integral lock base being or coming loose. Incorrctly pinned or something along those lines.
