Ive got a Ruger Blackhawk .357 mag/9mm convertible with 7.5" barrel I used for hog hunting for years. I realize that barrel length doesn't make it a practical self defense gun, I got other pistols for that. I have never fired 9mm through it. Just wondering what accuracy with a 9mm is out of a barrel that long and what is the basic difference in diameter. I don't have 9mm, I am a .45 acp person.

I've done some testing with a 6.5" Blackhawk. The accuracy of 357 mag, 38 special and 9mm was equal.

357 and 38 special use .357" jacketed bullets, 9mm uses .355" jacketed bullets. But barrel specifications are .355" groove diameter for all.

I have a used 357 Blackhawk from the mid-seventies. It's a pretty good shooter. I bought a 9mm cylinder for it off of eBay. 9mm seems to shoot about the same as 38 special. I'm not a great marksman, but they generally seem about the same to me.
