Shorter chamber that wouldn't build up carbon deposits in the .44 Mag chamber.

CraigC, what are those gorgeous stocks on your 50th Anniversery Flattop .44?
I like those.

I'm a longtime fan of .44 Spl. It's been my favorite handgun cartridge ever since I got my first Charter Arms Bulldog, in 1991, when I turned 21.
Most of my friends were celebrating their 21st by attempting suicide by alcohol.
I spent mine celebrating the 2nd Amendment.

Bannockburn, I also have Private Schultz's holly stocks on my .44 flattop.
Yes, the gun does roll up more under recoil, but it's designed to do so.

Those factory checkered plastic cheesegrater grips were miserable. They gave great purchase, but made my hands feel raw after shooting 50 rounds, duelist style, with each hand. That's one 50 round box. About half fired Left Handed (the only way to fly), and half fired right handed (another acceptable way to fly) I shoot and bat with either hand, but write and eat left handed.
Anyhoo, my hands felt RAW.
So, I paid my money, and waited my 4-6 weeks. Then, I took it to the range and lit it up. Good stuff.
CLC Custom grips makes some damned fine grips, too. Got a pair of myrtle grips from him for my ROA. THey currently reside on my BH .45 convertible.

You guys are too much. ;)

Those are CLC maple burl. Wish I had gotten the beveled bottoms. That particular sixgun will probably end up a Bisley .500JRH before it's over with.

Mesquite looks good on a Flattop, too!:)

Somewhere I saw the website of a grip maker who said he'd make grips out of any material for $150. I cut a slab of mesquite out of a dead tree on my place and would love to have a set of grips made for my NM Blackhawk .44 Special. Wish I could find that site again!
