I would really like to swap this all black front ramp out to a ramp with red so I can pick it out easier. It looks like a standard ramp held in with a roll pin, but I swear I have Googled the crap out of this and can't find replacement front sights for Blackhawk. Feel like a dope, could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

I went with a fiber optic front sight on mine. Huge difference. Plus, you can pick and change the color of the rod you use at will. Much sharper image when you front sight, press. Bottom line is, to me, FO stands out much more and is a finer more precise aiming point.

P.S. If you plan to replace yourself, make sure to use proper drill bit for new sight. I used a number 52. Found a six-pack on Amazon for a good price. “Topline USA Drill Bit #52” package also says www.CMLsupply.com

Good shooting

The other thing I do as a field expedient method of seeing plain ramp sights better is press in a bit of “correction tape” material. I have one of the rolls that you get at any office supply store. I pull enough out that it won’t pull back in to the holder, cut off a 1” or do piece to use. Then just hold it over the part of the ramp I want to apply to and then press down vigorously with my thumb. It stays in place pretty well and comes right off by using a stiff toothbrush.

yeah I'll tape and paint the ramp as a last resort, just seemed like there should be premade options for a common ramp style front sight held in by a roll pin

yeah I don't want fiber optic, just a red ramp to replace the all black one that is harder to pick up

might give it a measure and see how thick it is, the height, and fit a S&W front to it?

Is what im doing on my Taurus. I may cut the front sight off my SBH and see if i cant fit a fiberoptic to that one tho.

yeah I suppose I'll just get a bottle of Testors flat red and tape and paint. Scratching my head that a simple ramp held in by a roll pin doesn't have two or three oem or aftermarket options on Midway or Brownells.

If you don’t want to go to the hassle of changing the blade you could paint the blade white and then blaze orange with testors model paint.
I use toothpicks to paint them and take my time to be sure it doesn’t bleed over.
The best part is if you don’t like the result you can remove it with paint thinner, or replace the blade and install another one.

I understand that Ruger’s quality control is such that there are no “drop in” replacements for their front sights.

Unless you want to do a bit of drilling and filing it’s Testor’s time.

There were a few offered on Ebay, but as said you have to drill the sight, the good news is they are soft metal or in some cases plastic and easy to drill through the existing hole, I replaced one of my ROA sights with one to try a slightly taller front sight. I.ve painted a few rifle front sights with the Testors paint and they work fine, I used the hot pink, for hunting, more visible in low light conditions.
