I went and bought me a revolver. I picked up a Ruger Blackhawk .357, a crossdraw leather holster (not the one in the pic) and about 250 rds. of ammo last Friday eve.

So, how did I do?

Yea, I found the holster on e-bay. It's made in Mexico and the ad said it was made in the 60's but it looks like a new one.

Nice looking grips. I assume the silver grip frame and ejector rod housing are aluminum. Somebody went to the trouble to strip off the factory blue-black anodizing. Some guys like to switch those parts out with steel, because it helps to reduce felt recoil. Keeping them aluminum saves around 4 ounces in weight (IIRC).

Yea, it's aluminum but I like the contrast and the recoil isn't a problem for me so I think I'll leave it like it is.

So, do you think the package was worth the $325.00 I paid for it?
:D

Very nice. I am loving my new Blackhawk .44 Mag as well.

Blackhawks are great. When you get a deal on one like that one, they're even better. My dad just got a good deal on one as well. Hope you don't mind if I post a pic too. He got this one for $349. No holster with his though. This one is .45 Colt by the way. Man, I'm liking that leather.

Post away, you can't have too many pics of great guns!
:D

The holster in my pic was purchased on Ebay. I picked it up for $52.00 but I ended up with $70.00 total in it with the priority shipping.

I still think it was a good deal because I've been looking at different holsters and all the nice ones were over $100.00 and that didn't include shipping. So I figure I got this one for about 1/2 the price of a new one.

I really like the way the grips and the holster look together. It's almost as if they were made for each other.

ehh-hmm.
Since the OP doesn't mind others showing off. :)

I thought I would post up another pic of my .44 Magnum SBH.

I am really digging the leather you have. I would love to get a cross draw as well.

The holster I got with the gun is a crossdraw. I haven't used it yet but I intend to down the road. They are nice when sitting or riding in a car.

Ruger's time honored Blackhawk revolvers are considered ugly by a good many single action purists. Admittedly, they're not as svelte and sexy as a Colt 1873 SAA or its clones...but those big, blocky Rugers with 4.625 inch barrels just give me a case of the warm fuzzies...especially the ones with holster wear and various dings that mark a working gun.

You'll find that the cross draw holster is also nice for sitting in a treestand!
I carry my 6.5 " 357 Blackhawk as a b/u gun to my T/C Contender or Encore ,and it works great even when I use my climbing stand.
Be sure to add a leather retention thong around the hammer though!
Many come without one,and it's easy to bend over and have it slip out if you're not carefull.Especially when climbing!
