Found a new Charger for $250. Not overly fond of the new style stock but I could live with it. Looks like a fun gun to go with my more serious ones. Anyone have one? I'm SURE someone does. So school me on it, to buy or not to buy?

Had one for a few months. Fun but no real niche. To big to be a pistol, not a rifle, sold it after a few mags.

I have one of the older ones. I hunt a lot with large pistols so I have a scope on mine and use it as a training tool. It's as accurate as any 10/22. As is they are heavy to shoot unsupported but it can be done. I have nothing bad to say about them.

I'm thinking my club has .22 silhouette fun matches shot of a bench 25/50/75/100yd. I shoot it now with a 10/22 for speed from the bench and a CZ452 offhand for accuracy. Might be another dimension.

My 10/22, stock with Volquartsen trigger and Hogue stock shoots 1.5" groups at 50 yards with most ammo. I can get 1" out of it with Eley match (expensive, not plinker ammo). My Mk II shoots 1" groups at 50 yards with most ammo. Why would I want a cut down 10/22 when I have a more accurate real pistol? I don't get it.

I was reading your message and cringing about the 10/22, until I got to the part about the Mk II! Yeah, a tack driver that 10/22 ain't.

Picked up a new Ruger (10/22) Charger Take Down pistol. This is a fascinating concept that really got my interest. Compact, high capacity, survival gun, and modular possibilities/accessories are endless. Mounted a green dot reflex sight on it, fits nicely in a 12"X9" soft sided case. Makes a great back-pack gun. Came with a detachable bipod and 15 rd magazine.....very accurate.

Not a bad idea for a backpack survival type gun. I think I'd rather have the 10/22 takedown rifle though...

MCgunner, I understand your point, I have a 10/22 LVT that I've shot dime sized 20 round groups at 50 yds with, a MKIII converted to MKII with polished sear and a Colt Challenger. Just thought the Charger looked interesting ... May be not?

I don't know, I mean, if you WANT it, GET it. Logic has little to do with want. Me, well, I'll pass. Hell, I have a Charter Arms Explorer 2 I bought just cause it was cheap. But, it's worthless. It works, is as accurate as some 10/22s, trigger is awful. LOL! I still have it, never shoot it.

We all buy things on whims.
