They are new, do any of you have one yet?
To me they fit in between my .243's and the 30-06 for a rifle to hike and scout for deer over the summer.
Thanks Longboard

Nope, but if it is anything at all like the CZ american carbine, I would get it. Trouble is, what are the bore dimensions? If it is american , then accuracy could suck, with almost all x39 ammo being Euro. The cz is tailor made for this ammo, all of it, including the chicoms's.

Honestly are you EVER going to stop spouting this american x39=.308" nonsense:rolleyes: I repeadedly call you out on this and you never respond only to continue repeating the same misinformation later on.

me and other members on this board have gone to great lengths to discredit this claim you continue to expouse, WITH PICTURES no less. Yet any time this topic rolls around you say the same old tired and completely incorrect statments.

The Facts

Rugers made since 1992 do not have .308 bores

American made 7.62x39 ammunition is not loaded with and never has been loaded with .308 bullets

and lastly .002 isn't enough diffrence to make a noteworthy decrease in accuracy anyhow

To the OP

Yes the Ruger compact is a new introduction for 09, in the past ruger did a M77MkII in 7.62x39 but that was in rifle format.

So has anyone seen one 7.62x39 Ruger carbine in person? I am interested.

Cheese & Rice!

Why, God, why does he keep doing that?

Thank You Krocus. And now if you could convince those people that say a Ruger Single Six will not shoot 22lr rounds very well because the SS has a .224 bore geared for the 22 magnum round and a 22lr needs a .223 bore to shoot.

I do not think most people have a clue about how small .001 of an inch is. Or that barrel makers even hold that tight of a tolerance on a $300 dollar gun. Besides there can be that much difference in bullet diameter.

krochus, I'm really not trying to stir the pot but if Savage made this same rifle, I bet it would be cheaper and more accurate than Ruger. I sometimes believe that Ruger just has high prices for what you get.

Hey I'm the biggest Savage kool aid drinker around,

but if they made this model with a deep blue and a nice piece of wood it'd cost within $100 of the Ruger as well. I've owned a lot of Sporter weight Ruger 77's and I've found them to be superb in the accuracy dpt and compare very favorably to my savages of similar profile.

Remember with the Ruger you get mounts and rings which if you buy anything decent will set you back a MINIMUM of $50 on other rifles
