Ruger convertible Question

Can I buy an extra 9mm ruger cylinder and use it on a non convertible model 357 ruger blackhawk?

Is there such thing as a ruger stainless convertible blackhawk 357 with wood grips and adjustable sights?

Yes, have it fitted, although i have seen a lot of them drop in.

I've had poor luck with second cylinders fitting Blackhawks & Old Armys. It's usually the end shake and/or cylinder gap that's off.

If you can find a cylinder and have it fitted and timed by a gunsmith to the new gun - and provided it works after doing so - yes. Since you indicate the gun was not originally manufactured as a convertible, it is a virtual certainty that Ruger won't do it. There may also be accuracy problems with the .355-inch 9mm bullet in a .356-.357-inch bore, something often complained about on the convertible models.

Ruger will still fit a new cylinder for revolvers that are compatible. Their fee is very reasonable and I would recommend letting Ruger do it, since they built the gun in the first place. Their Services Menu lists the cost for labor at $50 to fit a new cylinder.

I found a Blackhawk 357 I wanted and called Ruger about this.
I asked because it was not an convertible model just a plain 357.
I was told adding a 9mm was not a problem and they would be happy to do it.
