I see where Ruger has started another count down (3rd year in a row) for their next surprise on their website. They did the LCP & LCR so what do you think is next?

Pocket 9?

1911?

There is a rumor by a "Ruger Source" that it is a Polymer Single action Revolver.

A lot of people are in agreement with this guy and i guess is respected enough to be believed.

I hope not because it sounds awfully boring.

It's not just a polymer frame, but the ejector rod has a built-in laser module, with the battery under the right grip panel. The laser is activated when the hammer is cocked, just as it passes the half-cock notch, and the laser goes off when the hammer drops, greatly saving on the battery life. It uses a proprietary direct-metal contact, so there are no wires showing. Production is scheduled for second quarter 2010, but there are about 20 pre-production models floating around. I really do not care for the Realtree camo finish on the polymer components, but a fake case-hardened look will be offered later, and the finish does go pretty well wth the titanium cylinder, which is offered only on the .45 Colt model. The .357, .44 magnums will have a blued steel cylinder, with stainless offered next year. The model with the birdshead grip has a built-in lanyard loop at the heel of the polymer pistol grip. No Bisley model is planned at this time. I know that traditionalists will cringe, but let's give the plastic Blackhawk II a chance.

I would think a .40S&W polymer pistol. They have the P95 and SR9 in 9mm and P345 in .45 ACP, but nothing in .40 S&W. The P944 is getting a little old.

its not a polymer single action. It worries me when people can't see that was a joke- Even if quinn from gunblast said it. Seriously? A laser on a single action polymer pistol? thats a little too much to throw at people at once.

I think its a 1911. I hope its a 1911 that comes in 9, 40, and 45 so we have some reasonably priced non-45acp priced 1911s to compete against RIA.

I doubt the later part of my hopes will come true.

Really hoping for a Ruger 1911A1 with a nice big RUGER billboard filling up one side of the frame and the instructions on the other side!!!

My guess is either an SR40, or, given the growing interest in small 9&.40 pistols that are smaller than a subcompact service pistol, one of those. Not sure if they will clone another Kel-Tec or if they will design it themselves this time.

The polymer single-action is generally (let's say "hopefully") being dismissed as a hoax.

Agree, those words just sound horrible!

A 1911 would make sense, but darn it, I just bought a Kimber. Well, I'd want to wait a year to make sure all the bugs were worked out. It's not like a 1911 would be a minor modification of an existing line.

I'd guess without any evidence to back me up, maybe a PF9/P11 style pocket 9. I love my Rugers, but have always known they lacked a really light concealed carry. They seem to be trying to rectify that with the latest two intros. I Kahr/KT style pocket nine is an obvious hole in their line.

i read on another board
the background to the countdown clock is the grey diamond plating
pretty sure this theme is related to the Hard-R line ie the sr556 the sr9 lcr lcp etc...

They actually have 3 new products. A compact SR9, and they will be offering the GP100 and Blackhawk in .327Mag.
The Blackhawk isn't a surprise, the GP100 is. Hopefully the compact SR9 will work better then the full sized one.

PS, the GP100 is a 7 rounder, the Blackhawk is an 8 rounder.

offering the GP100 ... in .327Mag.

SO what's the point in offering an "L-frame" sized gun that's more than heavy enough to handle hot .357 mags, in a .32 Mag?

Now, a compact revolver that can take advantage of the size benefits, that would be cool. But that's not what they're offering.

Heck, even the LCR in .327 would have been interesting.

Oh well.

...noting, specifically, that S&W has for years offered 7 shots in their L-frame and now 8 in an N-frame .357, which handles much like a GP100...

...ignoring the fact that the only good reason I could ever see for the .327 was 6 shots in a J-frame size...

Very interesting. And it would have made sense, too. A Blackhawk? Why? So I can match it up with my collection of .327 lever actions?

This "countdown" thing is getting funny. I mean, at least Ruger, Benelli, and Beretta, all of whom have done this on their websites lately, have had significant new products to offer. Now, countdowns for a new bore size? I mean, that's something to release mid-year.:)

Wow. I'm disappointed. I was hoping for a pocket 9 to complete the trifecta with the LCP & LCR. They could have competed well with the Kel-Tec PF9 and Kahr PM9. Instead they decided to compete with the Glock 26. Oh well....

This is basically what I expected, though, I did think it was gong to be offered in .40 S&W as well as 9mm.
