Does Ruger have a custom shop? If so, what can they do for one of their revolvers?

No, they don't have a custom shop. They will do refurbish or repair on any of their guns though. The refurb service is very good, they basically go through the whole gun and replace anything worn, all springs and screws are replaced and then the gun is reblued or brushed, test fired and returned to your door. I had a Single-Six done and it looked new when done for about a hundred bucks. Hard to beat.

Bill Ruger Sr. wasn't receptive to the idea of a custom shop, although several top-of-the-line gunsmiths tried to talk him into it. But on any number of occasions he sent guns out for custom work, particularly engraving and/or finishing.

YES THEY DO!

Ruger does have a custom shop. However, the customization that they specialize in is as mentioned previously is engraving. They may have a few other options available for you if you call. However, they do not do porting etc. They can switch a barrel, change out locks, disable a safety on a shotgun. etc.

God Bless,

Porter

Rugers engraving is only done on those model sold with engraving. They won't engrave a model you send back to them. They also won't reconfigure your gun in a way that the model wasn't sold in. Being as lawyer minded that they are I doubt very seriously they would disable any safety feature.

Ruger states it will hand engrave "any new Ruger firearm with virtually any pattern or scene you desire." apparently they will engrave any model. As far as disabling a safety I wouldn't believe that if I seen it in person, from Ruger or any company.

I'm more interested in having them remove that awful warning emblazoned on the side of the barrel. I've chosen not to buy a new Ruger simply due to their willful uglification. (And yes, "uglification" is a perfectly cromulent word. :scrutiny: )
