This one has been out a good while but has flown under my radar. Or maybe more accurately I've been out of the revolver world for awhile til recently when an LCR drug me back in! Last week I got to fondle a Ruger GP-100 Match Champion at the LGS and I was mightily impressed!

Does anyone here own one? Does it shoot as good as it looks?

I was after one hard and heavy when they came out with the adjustable sight model but have bought a normal Gp100 4" blued since. No one around here seems to able to get them.

I'm after a Model 58 Smith now and that is on my short list to stay. I would like to see how the grips on the Match Champion feel though before buying a pair.

It hasn't been out that long. It was debuted at the SHOT show last year. Nice revolver, they're now coming with adjustable sights.

I've seen them locally here at Sportsman's Warehouse. I thought about trading up for one but my 21 year old stainless 4" is super accurate and after that many years the action is super smooth so I don't think it would be much of a trade up. The looks of the chamfered cylinder and slab side barrel on the Match Champion don't really do it for me either. I kind of wish mine had a half lug barrel though.

Yes and yes. I did replace the grips with a Hogue monogrip but it shoots great. I'm hanging on to this one.

One LGS has the one with adjustable sights, the other LSG has the ones with Novak sights. Honestly as nice as adjustables would be I like the sight picture of the Novaks better. Scheel's has one for a bit under $800, not a terrible price compared to MSRP.

I bought one about a year ago and have only shot it once with some cheap .38 ammo I had. I like the grips myself and it shoots fine but I really need to gather some various types of ammo and wring it out. I like the Novak sights on it but the front sight I can do without. Every gun I have tried with fiber optic front sights always has a "halo" effect around it. I would like to switch them out if I can ever find some different ones for the Ruger.

Anything in the GP series is a tank. AND surprisingly easy to work on /tune for perfection!!!

had my range buds MC over here for a once over right after he got it a couple months ago
and i did a photo shoot of her while she was here
go ahead drool

I'm curious about the action. The type of competition they envision seems to have been indicated by the decision to introduce without adjustable sights.

They have always (GP100) been great revolvers, but no-one I listen to ever said they had the action potential of a good Smith.

Was that addressed?

i dont have to much to compare to
but i find the DA rigger on the MC to be very smooth and light
the SA trigger didnt charm me to much (but its good!)
its a easy gun to shoot fast!
