I have a chance at purchasing a 357 Mag. SS Ruger GP100 3" bl for a very good price. Does anyone carry a GP100 for a concealed weapon or is it too big for this purpose? What holster do you use?

If you want an inexpensive holster the 3 inch fits well in an Uncle Mike’s Sidekick #15.
It’s not the smallest revolver in the world for carry , some of the Ruger SP-101 series are smaller . But if you get the GP-100 it's a very rugged well made gun.

It should conceal nicely with an IWB holster. I have carried a Smith 686 w/4" barrel from time to time. It's the same size as a GP141 (same as what you are looking at except barrel is 1" longer). The Uncle Mike's is inexpensive, but does the job. I also like the Don Hume PCCH.

Mine is quite a hefty lump on my hip, but it would conceal undera coat.

If I can wear a cover garment, (sweatshirt, fleece vest) I carry my Ruger KGP-141. When I can't wear a cover garment, I carry my SP-101.

Yeah it's a little heavy. On the other hand I'm carrying a S&W 625 3" right now. It is less noticable in an OWB holster, but conceals better in an IWB holster. I use Blade Tech IWB to carry my GP, but a JIT slide holster for the 625.

That's what I'm afraid of kahr carrier. The GP100 357 2" bl would be a bit heavy and I just sold my Ruger P94 yesterday because it was bulky and too heavy for a carry gun. I don't know but maybe the SP101 is better suited for a carry gun.

SP-101 is definitely a better choice
for concealed carry, unless you're a really big guy. Another very attractive option is a S&W 640 in .357. Many belt carry options, but it's also perfect in a Milt Sparks or Kramer pocket holster.

Keep them holster suggestions coming. The GP100 3" Stainless is on order. I want to carry this particular gun concealed so I will need some help on holser selection. The Hume IWB holsters look really good, but not sure about comfort.

I just got a fist holster for my 4" GP-100, conceals well..it's not an IWB (though they may have them)...

I use a nylon Uncle Mikes belt holster right now. Do want to get a nice leather belt holster.

Well my SS GP100 3" Bl arrived yesterday. The gun was bought from my FFL dealer through KY Imports. I was a little hestitant about buying something used that I couldn't put my hands on first but was very impressed to see that the gun was very well taken care of with very little holster wear and tight all around. Even came with Hogue grips. Now all I need is a good holster.

GP-100 3" barrel
I would grab a Gp-100 with the 3" barrel if it is in good condition and the price deceant. They make a good all around weapon and are fun to shoot, a very well built revolver, also with the 3" barrel a great addition to any gun collection. Of course this is just my opinion. But I am sure many will agree.

The SP101 is probably a better choice (I love mine), but the GP100 could probably be concealed with the right holster. It's a pretty big chunk of iron to tote concealed, whether you're uhh... "big-boned" (like me) or not. I do love to shoot my GP100 (3" short underlug barrel), I just have better choices for concealed carry.

I have their model 14 combination for a sp101 3". The nice thing about Fist is they make holsters for odd ball guns that some of the majors like Galco and Bianchi don't. They are also resonably priced and don't take 3 months to receive!
Personally, for a pancake style holster, they are the cat's pajamas....

I realized that there are trade offs between concealment and accessability. What I prefer is having the but of the gun high. just under my rib cage. Cylinder and trigger guard above the top of my belt. I can completely conceal a 4 inch gun that way. For a three inch, lower is better. It adds to the preentability though it does stand out sideways a bit more. Take a look at the Dillon LTD holster and picture it for a revolver. That's what I prefer. I have one being made now.
