Anybody have any experience with that new Ruger gunsite rifle? It looks like a nice rig to me. Just wondering if anyone has fired or handled one. Here in NY we will be the last to see anything new.
I looked at it also, think it is a little overpriced but is a good idea except for that, don't like the scout scope system though.... And with the way Ruger over charges for magazines probably will not be for me..................
Lots of threads on this. The mags are not AI pattern and can be bought from many different sources including C Product that are on sale a midway right now. My rifle is purchased and I should be able to get it next week. Can't wait to shoot it. I paid about 750 for mine.
Unable to help myself I sent a few over the chronograph to satisfy my curiosity. The range was too short to draw accuracy conclusions but the chronograph data was interesting. I'll post a more detailed report later on but using fast for the caliber powders I'm getting near book estimates which is unusual even for long barreled guns in my experience. I didn't have enough time to shoot long strings or test every load I have ready to go. My next trip to the range I'll have more time and more to report.
The Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle arrived with a few nice surprises - Better sights and a better trigger than I expected. Overall it compares favorably with my Remington 700BDL which retails for exactly the same price at my Gun dealer. The Ruger comes with scope rings, better sights, more sighting options and is magazine fed. The BDL has a nicer stock and a more tuneable trigger. The Remington action with the jeweled bolt is smoother but I prefer and can run faster with the Ruger's cocking on the upstroke better than the Remington's cocking upon closing.
The Ruger shows promise accuracy wise, especially with the heavier bullets though the Lee 309-113 cast bullet (116 grain lubed w/gas check) looks like it'll be a winner too.
